SN 2005ab:<br>

This SN was discovered by S. Nakano
<a href="http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/08400/08478.html#item1"> 
(IAUC 8478)</a> on February 5, 2005, and absent on previous inages, 
(dates unspecified). Spectrum reported by Di Mille (Benetti's group)
indicates a very young II.<br>

The host galaxy 
<a href="http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/nph-objsearch?objname=ngc+4617&extend=no&out_csys=Equatorial&out_equinox=J2000.0&obj_sort=RA+or+Longitude&of=pre_text&zv_breaker=30000.0&list_limit=5&img_stamp=YES">NGC 4617</a> 
is at z=0.015527 (NED).<br>

Spectrum reported by De Mille et al. shows this is a type II SN.
