Caltech Astronomy : Academics

The academic programs offered by the Department of Astronomy may be loosely divided into two categories:

Undergraduate education:
We teach a large number of undergraduate-level courses in astronomy and astrophysics. While many of these are targeted at those majoring in astronomy, there are a number of more generic courses that may be of interest to undergraduates in other areas. Be sure to consult the list of Classes this Term as well as the Caltech Course Catalog, since only a subset of the available astronomy courses are offered each quarter.
Graduate education:
The education and training of graduate students towards the doctoral degree is a major emphasis of the Astronomy Department. Those considering graduate studies in our department should consult our section on Graduate Admissions for more information, including details on procedures.
