P60 Quick Start Guide for Normal Queued Observations RSW Oct 2013 The 60inch works primarly in a queued format. Observations are optimally schedule so that as many objects can be observed within their constraints listed in the target submissions. Below is an example guide to help observers quickly put together a target submission file to be added to the queue. In this example a target is created following the guidelines in the p60 template http://www.astro.caltech.edu/palomar/P60template.txt. With just the following information: Object Name: TargetX Object RA: 22:02:43.2 Object DEC: 42:16:40 EPOCH: 2000 Filters: rpr, ipr, gpr Exptime: 180s we can create a default target submission file: TargetX 22:02:43.2 42:16:40 2000 Repeats 1 Exposure gpr 180 1 Exposure rpr 180 1 Exposure ipr 180 1 Property NOFOCUS 1 Weight airmass 2.50 0.00 Weight moondeg 170.00 0.00 Binning 1 1 ROI 1 1 2048 2048 Keyword P60PRNM "Quick Start" Keyword P60PRID 2013A-C0005 Keyword OBJTYPE "Quick Start" Keyword P60PRPI "QuickStart" The above target is now ready to be added to the queue. In addition we can add other properites and constraints following the p60 template page: http://www.astro.caltech.edu/palomar/observers/P60template.txt
