Palomar Observatory Public Outreach
The Palomar Observatory is perhaps the world's most famous astronomical
observatory. Since the 1930's it has been, and continues to be, a center of astronomical
research.
The observatory is open daily except December 24 and 25. Yes, we are open 363 days a year. Visiting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. while on Standard Time and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. while Daylight Savings Time is observed.
Explore the links on the right to learn how to visit the Observatory, catch up on our current research, visit our telescopes, see our latest
astronomical images, or discover our history.
You can join us for behind-the scenes tours, evening observing events and talks by Palomar researchers
