SpectroCam's detector is a 128x128 Si:As BIBIB (Back Illuminated Blocked Impurity Band) detector manufactured by Rockwell. The current device (AsM4-3) was installed in May 1996 and uses a new switchable capacitance multiplexer that can operate in low and medium background modes. The detector also includes the "direct injection" unit cell design that significantly improves the detector's linearity to output voltages of about 1.5 V, and an antireflection coating that dramatically reduces interference fringing in the detector substrate, that were introduced in previous SpectroCam detectors. Some important parameters of the detector are listed in Table 1.3.
