Final comments

This concludes the setup of the Fabry-Perot instrument. There are a number of other configurations which are possible but not discussed here. For example, the etalon wedge may be replaced with a filter slide, which allows 2-inch square filters to be used without vignetting. (However, due to the absence of the wedge and the presence of the filter in the collimated beam, internal ghost reflections will be more prevalent. Also, this method easily incorporates only a single filter, complicating calibration observations.) Similarly, other collimator and camera lens combinations are possible with this system. An adaptor cable has been purchased for incorporating etalons with ``old-style'' connectors. Alternate configurations should be discussed with one of the contact persons listed in Appendix D well in advance of any observing run.

Finally, before going to dinner, you will probably want to start a calibration data set. See Section 4.5 below for more information on the calibration procedures.
