60-inch
The primary issue concerning the guider system on the 60-inch
telescope is to verify that it can be focused at the current
telescope focus. A new guider camera system was installed in
November, 1998 which initially could not be focussed simultaneously
with the Fabry-Perot instrument. If this condition remains at the
time of your run, be assured that the guider system can function
with unfocussed stellar images (i.e., doughnuts), provided that a
sufficiently bright star can be located.
The guider camera should now be focused, preferably right after the
telescope is focused. The observing assistant will be able to help
with this. If the camera does not focus in the allowable range on
the 60-inch telescope, simply adjust it to the best focus possible.
