Setup

Due to the complexity of the Fabry-Perot instrument, you should arrive on the mountain as early as possible. This is particularly important during the winter months, as dinner may be as early as 4:00 pm.

Upon arriving at the observatory, first stop by the Monastery to get a key to the dome, perhaps some lunch, etc. Then proceed to the dome to begin the setup procedure. You should anticipate spending 2-4 hours setting up the instrument, after which time you will probably want to start a series of calibration observations, while you are at dinner.
