Filter wheel control

 Commands to control the filter wheel are substantially different between the two telescopes:

• 60-inch

  fzero

  Move the filter wheel to the home position and edit the filter name list. This command should be run during setup, after the filter wheel has been moved manually, or whenever you think the software may have lost track of the current position of the filter wheel.

  When assigning filter names, be sure that the initial letter of each filter name is unique, as this letter is used in the resulting image file name. (See the snap command above.)

  fmove

  Move the filter wheel to the specified filter. This command will prompt the user for the filter name. Note that you cannot use the filter wheel slot number; a name must be defined for any slot to which you may want to move. Filter names are assigned with the fzero command.

  bfmove <filter>

  Move the filter wheel to the specified filter. This command accepts the filter name on the command line, making bfmove very useful in non-interactive scripts. Note that you cannot use the filter wheel slot number; a name must be defined for any slot to which you may want to move. Filter names are assigned with the fzero command.

  fstat

  Print the present location of the filter wheel.

  
  
• 200-inch

  f9whinit

  Initialize the F/9 base filter wheel. This command is very similar to f9whhome.

  f9whhome

  Move the F/9 base filter wheel to the home position.

  f9whmove <filter>

  Move the F/9 base filter wheel to the specified filter. Note that you cannot use the filter wheel slot number; a name must be defined for any slot to which you may want to move. Filter names are assigned using a FIGARO data structure:

  
  
  

  Filter names on the 200-inch telescope should be given in capital letters.

  f9whstat

  Print the present location of the F/9 base filter wheel.

  p200f9

  Initialize the software interface for the F/9 guider base. This command will probably never be needed, except possibly after you have logged out of the Microvax completely.
