Open Star Cluster M 38

The open star cluster known as M 35 is located about 4,200 light years from our solar system in the direction of the constellation of Auriga. It contains several hundred stars and is about 25 light years across.

In 1764 Charles Messier made it the thirty eighth object, M38, of his famous catalog.
