Notes for Serious Users

This section presents a set of random notes that serious users may find of interest. If you are an ordinary user, not intimately familiar with the depths of FIGARO or of VMS, you will never need to be aware of anything in this section.

1.
FIGARO contains as a hidden keyword in a few places PRIORITY, to allow those in the know to defeat the crowded conditions on most VAXES. NEVER use the hidden PRIORITY keyword - it will mess up the priority raising scheme that allows CCD readout to occur.

2.
You will notice that all batch words for flattening and all long exposures produce disk files in scr:[ccd], irrespective of the directory or subdirectory in which you were working when the command was initiated.

3.
If the Toshiba printer fails to print plots made with PGPLOT, try typing:

PRINT/PASSALL

At the 60-inch telescope, PRINT is redefined as PRINT/PASSALL, but that may not be the case at the 200-inch telescope.
