This document describes how to properly close down the C-10 scope and the site at the end of an evening of observing.

EYEPIECES
1. Remove any eyepieces from the telescope. If the eyepiece came in a container, be sure to restore it to the container.

2. If you used any of the filters, return them to their cases.

3. Remove the diagonal from the scope and put it in with the eyepieces.

4. Replace the eyepiece plug in the eyepiece socket. It should fit snugly, so you don't have to tighten the setscrew.

5. Place the eyepiece storage case back in the cabinet.

STOWING THE SCOPE
1. Turn off the clock drive power.

2. Unplug the clock drive power cable and coil it neatly in the cabinet.

3. Put the aperture cover and eyepiece covers back on both the main scope and the finderscope.

4. Point the telescope at zenith (straight up).

5. Put the tarp over the scope. Make sure it's centered. Hook the bungie cords to the corners of the tarp, by pulling up on the bungies instead of down on the tarp corners.

CLOSING THE CABINET
1. Make sure all loose items are back in the cabinet.

2. Turn off the red lamp.

3. Close the cabinet door. You may have to lift it up an inch to get it fully closed. Latch the hasp and lock it.

4. If you encountered any problems or have suggestions for the rooftop observing facilities, send email to Rob.

5. Return the key ring to the cabinet in Robinson thet evening, or as early as possible the next day, and check the "retn" box on the scheduling sheet.
