These are the key points to bear in mind when operating the C-14 telescope.

SETUP
Sign out the keys before Room 211 closes for the day.

Do not fall off the roof.

Do not open the slit doors beyond the width of the dome slit.

Do not remove the aperture caps until the dust from the dome opening has settled.

OPERATION
Do not reverse direction on the dome azimuth drive until it has come to a complete stop.

Do not use the eyepiece, diagonal, or finderscope as handles when moving the telescope.

Do not attempt to use the CCD unless you have been properly instructed and authorized to do so.

SHUTDOWN
Be sure that all eyepieces find their way back into the case.

Be sure to replace all three aperture covers and caps (main scope cap, finderscope cap, eyepiece plug).

Be sure to close the dome slit all the way, and point it west.

Be sure to power off the clock drive.

Shut off the lights and lock all doors.
