Next: Radio galaxies with disks
Up: Scale lengths at different
Previous: Extrapolated profiles
In this chapter we have described our results of fitting
1D surface brightness profiles of galaxies to the radio and
control samples. In particular we have shown that:
- The distribution of the
ratio for the control
sample and radio
galaxies show important differences. Control galaxies seem
to have a quiet history whereas the radio galaxies are likely
to have undergone recent star formation in the central region. - Color gradients are reflected in the scale length ratio.
However, the latter are more sensitive at describing the average
variation of
color in galaxies.
- Extrapolated
profiles confirm enhanced star formation in the central regions
of radio galaxies.
In the next chapter we turn to discussing the disky galaxies.
