SN 2004dk:<br>

This SN was discovered by LOSS 
<a href="http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/08300/08377.html#Item2"> 
(IAUC 8377)</a> on Aug 1, 2004, and was absent on July 29, 2004, so at 
most 2 after explosion when reported.<br>
<br>
The host galaxy 
<a href="http://nedwww.ipac.caltech.edu/cgi-bin/nph-objsearch?objname=NGC+6118&extend=yes&out_csys=Equatorial&out_equinox=J2000.0&obj_sort=RA+or+Longitude&of=pre_text&zv_breaker=30000.0&list_limit=5&img_stamp=YES">NGC 6118</a> 
is at z=0.005247 (NED).<br>
<br>
Patat et al. 
<a href="http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/iauc/08300/08379.html#Item2">
(IAUC 8379)</a> obtained a spectrum of this SN on Aug 3, 2004, 
identifying it as a type Ic SN.<br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.astro.caltech.edu/~avishay/phototyping/index.html">
Photometric typing</a> using prompt P60 BgVR photometry yielded 
consistent results with the spectroscopic information.<br>
