- About 1 slide per minute
- No colors that are harsh or difficult to see (proof it with the projector)
- Use large font
- Minimize content and text per slide
- Make eye contact
- Physically move around occasionally
- Speaking volume: A level understandable to the back of the audience
- Use inflections, convey your interest
- Pace: Keep things at a moderate pace. Don't overload or bore audience.
- Use gestures to help explanations. Don't use them distractingly.
- Short pauses between concepts are okay! Allows time for the material to sink in.
- Preview it. Have friend video tape or listen to it. Look for "ums", etc.
- Better to assume a lower level audience than speak above them
- Describe all plots, especially the axes.
