Graduate student research assistantship at the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, Rochester Institute of Technology under the supervision of Dr. Grover Swartzlander. Performed theoretical work as well as a number of challenging experiments involving the application of vortex-phase elements in imaging systems.

Visiting research student January - April, 2015
Université de Liège, Liège, Belgium
Visiting research scholar at the Université de Liège, Belgium under the supervision of Dr. Olivier Absil. Designed optical instrumentation for high contrast astronomical imaging with current and future ground-based telescopes. Formed a continued collaboration with the ERC funded 'VORTEX' team.

Intern May - August, 2014
Naval Research Laboratory, Washington D.C.
Internship in the Optical Sciences Division of NRL under the supervision of Dr. Abbie Watnik. Designed imaging system with reduced risk of damage owing to unwanted laser radiation. Formed a ongoing collaboration between RIT and Dr. Watnik's team.

Intern May - July, 2011
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, CA
Internship with the Planetary Ices group at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. James B. Dalton. Developed software applications for hyperspectral image analysis. Implemented procedures for spectral feature analysis and mixture modeling of spectral data. Presented results at JPL's planetary science division seminar.

Teaching Experience

Teaching Assistant 2012 - 2016
Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY
Graduate student teaching assistantship at the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, Rochester Institute of Technology. Served as TA for five semesters in the following courses: Introduction to Imaging Systems, Human Visual System, Physical Optics, and Optics for Imaging. Oversaw laboratory components, tutored students as needed, provided feedback on assignments, and guest/substitute lectured on several occasions.

Undergraduate Teaching Assistant 2007 - 2010
State University of New York at Geneseo, Geneseo, NY
Undergraduate lab instructor position at SUNY Geneseo for introductory astronomy and a teaching assistantship for introductory calculus during two summer sessions. Assisted students inside and outside of the classroom, provided feedback on assignments, and held recitation sessions for undergraduates.
