Karín Menéndez-Delmestre's Homepage

Welcome to my page...
I'm an astronomy PhD student at the California Institute of Technology, starting my 5th (and last!) year of the program. I'm presently working with Andrew Blain and my PhD thesis is on "The astrophysics of high-redshift submm-emitting galaxies (SMGs)". More specifically, I'm working on:
- Determining the starburst-to-AGN relative contributions to the total luminosity in SMGs through mid-IR spectroscopy using the Infrared Spectrograph (IRS) on board of the Spitzer Space Telescope
- Near-IR Halpha spectroscopy of SMGs using the NIRSPEC and OSIRIS instruments on the Keck II Telescope
- Galaxy clustering around SMG associations using the Large Format Camera (LFC) on the 200-inch Palomar telescope and the Low Resolution Infrared Spectrograph (LRIS) on Keck I.
