Assistant Professor of Astronomy (December 2000 - present): California Institute of Technology, Pasadena CA . I teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses and am fortunate to be able to work with many talented Caltech postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students. My main research focus is observations of star and planet formation.


Previous Locations

Postdoctorate #2 (Fall 1997 - Fall 2000): California Institute of Technology, Pasadena CA , specifically, Robinson Hall where I have been working on star formation in the North American/Pelican Nebula region, various observations of protostars, and the initial mass function (among other things).

Postdoctorate #1 (Fall 1994 - Fall 1997): University of California, Berkeley CA , specifically, Campbell Hall where my research centered mostly on the Orion Nebula Cluster.

Graduate School (Fall 1989 - Fall 1994): University of Massachusetts, Amherst MA , a denizen of the GRC where my research focussed on Herbig Ae/Be stars.

Undergraduate Education (Fall 1985 - Spring 1989): Princeton University, Princeton NJ , often but not usually in the basement of Peyton Hell.

High School (Fall 1981 - Spring 1985): Council Rock High School, Newtown PA.

Born and Raised: somewhere near the middle of this map .
