| Exam 1 |
Will cover lecture, reading material, and assignments
from weeks 1-3 of class. You are primarily responsible for
topics covered in lecture; the book goes into a lot of background and detail
that I will not hold you responsible for.
This exam will be closed book and closed note, with the exception
of a single 4 x 6 note card on which you may write anything you wish.
Exam 1 is distributed on Friday 17 October and due back by Friday 24 October.

| Exam 2 |
Will cover lecture, reading material, and assignments
from weeks 4-6 of class.
This exam will be very qualitative in nature. It will be closed book and
closed note, and unlike last time, there will be no note cards.
I will give you any formulae you might need, though you might want to have
memorized the general form of Kepler's law and the basic equations we have
been using that relate stellar luminosity, radius, temperature, and flux
(i.e. L = 4 pi R2 sigma Teff4 and F = L / 4 pi d2).
|
| Exam 3 |
Will focus on the last four weeks of material.
However, the material in this course is cumulative and you should not forget
entirely about earlier terminology, etc. This should be the
least challenging of the 3 exams.
