I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, in the early 1980s. My family moved to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, when I was midway through elementary school; I grew up and went to high school there. Upon graduation, I moved to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, to pursue my BSc in Astronomy and Physics. There I met my wife Jennifer. In 2006, we moved to lovely Pasadena, California where I am currently occupied in my PhD studies, once again in the field of Astrophysics.

When I'm not working or playing with my boys, I like to spend my time reading science fiction, tinkering with electronics, maintaining my car, and playing board games and video games. I also love to listen to music; I mainly enjoy independently produced music from Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
