Welcome to the web site for the Thirty-Meter Telescope Project, a collaboration between Caltech, the University of California, AURA, and ACURA, with the goal of constructing a 30-meter diameter optical/infrared telescope. Such a telescope will allow astronomers to resolve detail in early galaxies and forming planetary systems, and to detect the faintest and most distant objects in the universe, beyond the reach of current telescopes.
