Palomar Observatory based publications.

Authors are encouraged to standardize their reference to Palomar Observatory telescopes.

Acknowledgments: STANDARDIZED Palomar Telescope References

The AASTeX macros include facility keywords to enable ADS tracking of telescope facilities used. Please use as appropriate: \facility{Hale}, \facility{PO:1.2m}, \facility{PO:1.5m}, \facility{PO:PTI}, \facility{PO:Sleuth} for the Hale, Oschin, 60-inch, PTI and Sleuth respectively. Multiple facilities can be included, as can instruments used, eg.
{\it Facilities:} \facility{Keck:I (LRIS, ESI)}, \facility{Hale (WIRC)}, \facility{PO:1.5m}, \facility{PO:1.2m (QUEST)}
Observations at Palomar Observatory facilities should also include a note in the text [as appropriate]: Examples
Pictures in other texts should also be credited [as appropriate]:

Explicit Hale Acknowledgement

By agreement with our operating partners, publications based wholly or in part on data obtained at the Hale 200-inch Telescope should include a footnote or acknowledgement in the following explicit form:

"Based on observations obtained at the Hale Telescope, Palomar Observatory, as part of a collaborative agreement between the California Institute of Technology, its divisions Caltech Optical Observatories and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (operated for NASA), and Cornell University."

Credits for New Instrument Builders

Researchers publishing papers based on data acquired with a recently commissioned instrument during its first year of general use should credit those who built the instrument by including them as co-authors, and thereafter by reference to a descriptive paper, or by suitable acknowledgement.
