Research Interests
I am a NSF postdoctoral fellow focusing on radio astronomy at
Caltech's Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO). My primary interests
consit of studies of the Cosmic Microwave Baground (CMB), clusters of
galaxies via their Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect, high-frequency
radio source populations, and studies of the Inter-Stellar Medium
(ISM) -- in particular to how they relate to foregrounds in the
studies of the CMB. I have an overall interest in the techniques of
radio astronomy, in particular the development of new single-dish and
interferometric radio telescopes.
It is my belief that it is the duty of scientists to share their
knowledge with their community. As a result, I am very
interested in education and public outreach, and have been an integral
part of the outreach efforts taking place at OVRO. It is a shame that
children who are naturally inquisitive about the world around them
lose that interest at an early age, as a result, most of my outreach
activities consist of teaching children in the age bracket from 4-10
years old. In addition, I have developed curricula to teach middle
and high-school science classes about the scientific method. For the
adults in the community, I also organize public observing nights in one of the least light-polluted areas in the country.
