Subaru Lya Imaging of the Circum-galactic Medium at Galaxy Formation Epoch

I'll present recent results from our Subaru Lya imaging survey of the circum-galactic medium (CGM) at z=2-5. The CGM is thought to play an important role to determine the activities/properties of galaxies through gas flows into and out of galaxies. Deep Lya imaging can trace the two dimensional structure of the CGM as extended Lya emitting nebula. We found that high-z galaxies in over-dense regions have more extended Lya nebulae compared to the field galaxies at the same redshift, suggesting that galaxies in over-dense regions have more gas around them at galaxy formation epoch. I'll also briefly introduce our new Herschel proto-cluster survey to test if such gas rich environment enhance the star-formation or AGN activities of galaxies in over-dense regions at z=2-3.
