Stellar Populations with HST: Constraints on Astrophysical Timescales"
Stellar populations offer an archeological record of past star
formation in galaxies. By using color magnitude diagrams obtained
with HST, we can reconstruct past star formation in galaxies as a
function of time and position. I will discuss the principles behind
these techniques, and describe their application to the calibration of
timescales for star formation indicators, the buildup of galactic
disks, and the identification of supernova precursors.
