"Obscuration and clustering of AGN in the 9 square degree Bootes survey"

Unified and evolutionary models of active galactic nuclei (AGN) indicate
that a significant fraction of luminous AGN are obscured by gas and dust.
It is also increasingly clear that AGN play a key role in the evolution of
their host galaxies. I will discuss two studies of AGN that address these
topics, using data from the 9 square degree multiwavelength survey in
Bootes. First, we use mid-IR selection to identify a large population of
luminous, obscured AGN ("Type 2 quasars") at 0.7 selection based on X-ray properties from the Chandra XBootes survey.
Second, we study the host galaxies, X-ray spectra, and clustering of AGN
at 0.25 preferentially found in galaxies with "green" colors, and the clustering,
X-ray spectra, and Eddington ratios vary significantly with host galaxy
type. By contrast, radio AGN are preferentially found in luminous red
sequence galaxies and have very low average Eddington ratios. I will
briefly discuss how these results may constrain the evolution of AGN and
their host galaxies.
